When using the amplifier in Bridge mode, only connect speakers through the Bridge connectors.
Crossover information for subwoofers
Please be aware that D-series amplifiers do not have an on-board crossover switch. It is therefore not
recommended to connect a subwoofer without an internal filter to the outputs of this power amplifier. Doing
so may cause damage to your subwoofer.
It is possible, however, to use an external 19-inch crossover, a D-series amplifier and a subwoofer without an
internal filter when connected in this particular order. This way, any incoming signal must go through the
crossover first which will remove any high frequencies (these will be sent to different outputs for your full-
range speakers).
The crossover output for your subwoofer will send a signal to your amplifier inputs containing frequencies
that do not exceed the level you have set. This particular small group of frequencies will be reproduced
through the D-amplifiers and sent to your subwoofer through the speaker outputs. Never cross any signals
for subwoofers higher than 300 Hz.
Impedance
The Devine D-series are tough, professional PA-amplifiers, built to deliver continuous power to your
speakers.
However, the impedance of your connected loudspeakers is very important. An impedance that is too low
may cause serious damage.
The minimum impedance of a connected loudspeaker (chain) should be no less than 4 ohms. The D-
amplifiers are not 2 ohms-stable!
This means that there should be no speaker or speaker chain connected that has a smaller impedance than
4 ohms on each side. While in Bridge mode, connect only a speaker or speaker chain with a total minimum
impedance of 8 ohms.
In stereo mode, it is possible to connect:
- two PA-speakers, each with a minimum impedance of 4 ohms and connected to one of the amplifier
channels.
- four PA-speakers, each with a minimum impedance of 8 ohms, two of which directly connected to the
amplifier (each connected to one channel), and the other two speakers connected to the first two.
In Bridge mode, it is possible to connect:
- one PA-speaker or subwoofer with a minimum impedance of 8 ohms.
Installing the amplifier
To install the D-series amplifiers in a 19-inch rack or flight case, practical
mounting brackets are provided. Mounting points are on the front panel only,
due to the fact that these amplifiers are every light in weight. Thanks to a
minimal depth of only 18 cm, the amplifiers can be installed in racks or flight
cases with a limited depth. Each D-amplifier is only 1U high.
Stacking multiple amplifiers in a 19-inch rack is possible, and the individual positions of the amplifiers in the
rack is irrelevant due to the fact that they are very lightweight. If you want to mount heavier equipment than
these power amplifiers in your rack, Devine recommends installing them as low as
possible in the rack to keep the turnover point for gravity lower, preventing the case from
tipping over.
Power input, fuse and electrical information
When it comes to power connection, the Devine D-series units are identical, and all work
with a standard IEC C14 input which can also be found on devices such as desktop
computers. The protective fuse is installed directly next to the power input, as connected
