Serial port connections
TTL serial port.
The dS2832 has one serial port header which
is serial port 1 in dScript.
Pin 1 is marked on the PCB.
Tx and Rx operates at 3.3v levels, however
the Rx input is 5v tolerant. Most 5v TTL level
serial ports will accept a full 3.3v input ensur-
ing the port is compatible with most 5v de-
vices such as the LCD05 display modules.
That is the reason 5v (rather than 3.3v) is
available on pin1 to power external modules.
The 5v supply can source up to 200mA. Keep
the leads short and away from high voltages.
RS485 serial port.
Referred to as serial port 3 in dScript.
The 12v power is not part of the RS485 speci-
fication, it is there to provide convenient
power for any 12v sensors you may wish to
connect such as our SRF485 ultrasonic
rangers.
Connections for the RS485 port are also
clearly labeled on the PCB.
The two pin link near to the RS485 terminal
block should be shorted to use the on-board
120 ohm terminating resistor.
Notes.
1. Serial port 2 is not available on the dS2832.
2. Serial ports are available when programming in dScript
