Characteristics
Material
Biodent K+B Plus is made of the dental
plastic INPEN, a blend of selected polymers
without filler and with a high proportion of
cross-Iinked particles. The proportions of the
various ingredients were formulated by
computer to produce an ideal composition.
The result was “Interpenetrated Polymer Net-
work“ = INPEN – a heterogeneous micro-
structure.
Advantages: crowns and veneers resistant
to abrasion, tough, yet not brittle; no prob-
lems with grinding; easy to bring quickly to
a very high polish; permanently thick and
smooth surfaces; uniform curing tempera-
ture; reliable bonding of additional layers.
Colour
Biodent shades are easily and reliably
obtained in the plastic veneer. Each shade
has its own dentine opaque and the shading
of the bevelled layers is supported by nine
different neck opaques. The sheen and na-
tural qualities of the finished Biodent K+B
workpieces have a further optical quality of
natural teeth added to them: white fluores-
cence under ultra-violet light!
Technique
Three different liquids enable the use of any
of the following techniques:
Liquid S for the direct build-up method
Short doughing time (2–4 minutes at 22–
30 °C). Excellent plasticity, i.e. very easy to
mould and cut (not rubbery). The dough is not
tacky and does not cobweb. The materials
do not run into each other during the layering
but set quickly. No drying out, no formation
of skin. Ample working time (45 minutes).
Cure: water bath at 95 °C, at least 15 minutes,
pressure 6 bars.
Liquid N for flask method
Good fluidity, long working time.
Cure: heat up for about 30 minutes, then
boil for 30 minutes.
Liquid K for cold cure
Sets quickly, short hardening time, only in
conjunction with Promotor K.
Cure: 8–12 minutes (according to room
temperature) or 10 minutes in pressure flask
at 40–50 °C.
