3 Step-by-step instructions
3.1 Shade selection
Shade selection is made whilst the teeth are hydrated and prior to the restorative procedure. With
only 6 shades teeth within the complete shade range of the VITA
® 1
shade range can be restored
satisfactorily. Dyract
®
eXtra restorative is also available in two opaque shades (O-A2; O-B3). For the
convenience of former Dyract
®
restorative and Dyract
®
AP restorative users, the shades B3 and C3
are available.
1. Remove any extraneous plaque or surface stain.
2. Use the VITAPAN
® 1
classical shade guide. Use the central part of the respective VITA
®
tooth for
shade selection.
3. Use the table below to select for the tooth shade determined the most suitable Dyract
®
eXtra.

Alternatively use the Dyract
®
eXtra shade guide that is available on request. The Dyract
®
eXtra
shade corresponds to and contains samples of original Dyract
®
eXtra restorative. The color coding
dot on the shade guide matches the colored cap on the Compules
®
Tip.

Avoid contamination of the shade guide.
To prevent the shade guide from exposure to spatter or spray of body fluids or con-
taminated hands it is mandatory that the shade guide is handled offside the dental
unit with clean/disinfected gloves. For shade selection, remove individual tabs from
shade guide holder.
3.2 Cavity preparation
1. Clean the tooth surface with a fluoride free prophylaxis paste (e.g. Nupro
®
prophylaxis paste).
2. Prepare cavity (unless not necessary, e.g. cervical lesion).
3. Use adequate isolation such as rubber dam.
4. Rinse surface with water spray and carefully remove rinsing water. Do not desiccate the tooth
structure.
3.2.1 Matrix placement and wedging (Class II restorations)
1. Place a matrix (e.g. AutoMatrix
®
matrix system or Palodent
®
matrix system) and wedge. Burnish-
ing of the matrix band will improve contact and contour. Pre-wedging or BiTine
®
ring placement
is recommended.
Cavity width.
Cavity width (a) must be less than 2/3 of the intercuspal distance (b).
