Sharpening the cutting teeth
Leave the resharpening of a saw chain to a
specialist or proceed according to the instruc-
tions for your saw chain sharpener. Reshar-
pening a saw chain takes practice. If in doubt,
it is preferable to replace the saw chain.
Changing the saw chain
Never fix a new saw chain on a
worn set of teeth or on a damaged
or worn blade.
1. Turn off the appliance and, before do -
ing any servicing, remove the battery.
2. Undo the blade fixing screw ( 5)
and take off the chain wheel cover
( 6).
3. Take off the old saw chain ( 1).
The assembly and tensioning of the new
saw chain are described in the “Assembly
instructions” chapter.
Maintaining the blade
The blade must be turned over every
8 - 10 working hours in order to guarantee
even wear (for this, see the “Operation”
chapter).
1. Turn off the appliance and, before do -
ing any servicing, remove the battery.
2. Take off the chain wheel cover (6),
saw chain (1) and blade (2) (see pic-
ture ).
3. Check the blade (2) for wear. Remove
burrs and straighten the guide sur-
faces with a flat file.
4. Clean the oil passage (28) to
ensure fault-free, automatic
oiling of the saw chain during
operation.
5. Assemble the blade, saw chain
and chain wheel cover and re-
tension the saw chain (see the
“Assembly instructions” chapter).
When the oil channels are in opti-
mum condition, the saw chain au-
tomatically sprays a little oil a few
seconds after the saw is started.
Storage
• Clean the equipment before putting it
away.
• Put on blade cover.
• Always empty the oil tank before
pauses in operation lasting several
weeks because the biological chain oil
can become resinous and block the oil
outlet channel. Dispose of used oil in
an environmentally correct manner.
• Store the device in a dry, frost-free,
and dust-protected place and out of
reach of children.
Disposal and
environmental protection
Be environmentally friendly. Return the
tool, accessories and packaging to a recy-
cling centre when you have finished with
them.
Machines do not belong with do-
mestic waste.
• Dispose of the equipment in accord-
ance with the local regulations. Take
the equipment to a collection point,
where it will be recycled in an environ-
mentally friendly manner. For informa-
tion about this, ask your local waste
management company or our service
centre.
