Rack mounting the appliance

This section provides instructions and illustrations for rack mounting the Dell Safeguard 5242LR.

The Safeguard 5242LR appliance is designed to be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack. The product packaging contains a slide
rail kit for mounting the appliance in a four-post cabinet. Before installing the appliance in an equipment rack, the rails must be
attached to the appliance and to the rack posts.

You will need the following tools and hardware for installation:

•

Phillips (cross head) screwdriver (#1 bit and #2 bit)

•

Anti-static wrist strap and conductive foam pad (recommended)

•

Two outer rails

•

Four inner rails

•

Crosshead threaded screws

CAUTION:

Do not use slide/rail mounted equipment

as a shelf or a work space.
