
4.2.2 Starting the engine
Mode
Procedure
REMOTE
When the controller is in REMOTE mode, the engine start is based on a remote signal, for example, from a
PLC.
LOCAL
To start the engine:
1. Operator action: Press
to start the engine.
•
System response: The controller runs the start sequence.
◦
If everything is OK, the engine starts.
◦
If the engine does not start, the display unit shows an info message.
Switchboard
control
When the controller is under switchboard control, the display unit bottom strip push-buttons are disabled. The
engine can only be started manually and/or from the switchboard.
INFO
The switchboard equipment is third-party equipment. The switchboard might not include a button to start the engine.
4.2.3 Stopping the engine
Mode
Procedure
REMOTE
When the controller is in REMOTE mode, the engine stop is based on a remote signal, for example, from a PLC.
LOCAL
The generator breaker must be open to stop the engine. If the generator breaker is not open, press
to open
the breaker before stopping the engine. See
Opening the generator breaker
for more information.
To stop the engine:
1. Operator action: To stop the engine with a cooldown time, press
once.
•
System response: The controller stops the engine after the cooldown time.
•
System response: If the engine does not stop, the controller activates an alarm.
2. Operator action: Press
again to skip the cooldown time and stop the engine immediately.
•
Note: A engine stop without cooldown time increases the mechanical wear of the engine. The engine may
also have problems if it needs to restart immediately. The engine should only be stopped without cooldown
time in emergencies. Contact the engine manufacturer for more information.
•
System response: If the engine does not stop, the controller activates an alarm.
Switchboard
control
When the controller is under switchboard control, the display unit bottom strip push-buttons are disabled. The
engine can only be stopped locally and/or from the switchboard.
INFO
The switchboard equipment is third-party equipment. The switchboard might not include a button to stop the engine.
