QUEUES
In a charging facility where more vehicles are connected than there is power available, a
situation arises where cars are queued pending available capacity. Some vehicles will not
wake up when taken out of the queue. All charging facilities should, therefore, be scaled to
ensure that all vehicles at any time receive at least 6A to prevent them from going dormant.
5. Product description
6. Before installation
To be assessed before installation:
• Distribution network: TN, IT or TT network
• Available power for EV charging without fixed building loads (lighting, heating etc.)
• Single-phase or three-phase charging
• Number of charge points
• Number of CLUs
• Available charging current for each charge point
• Plan for a connection pattern
• Fill in the facility form underneath "My facility" in the installer portal at
www.defa.com/facilityform/
4. System requirements/limitations
CLU is intended for charging equipment, supplied by:
• 230V AC and 400V AC TN-S, star topology three phase balanced system, hereafter
called TN network.
• 230V AC IT delta topology, with 120 degrees between each phase (Norway only),
hereafter called IT network.
One CLU should be provided per power source. That is, one subdivision with two secured
branches equals two CLUs. However, there are two exceptions:
1. All charge points can be connected to vehicles in any order without exceeding the
limit of the main fuse. For example: Several charge points, two branches (fuses that
supply the facility) and one CLU set to 63A, both branches must then each be sized
for a charging current of 63A.
2. When power sharing is not required, and CLU is only used as a link between the charge
point(s) and CloudCharge.
