2.0 INSTALLATION:
2.1
PLANNING:
Plan your Fall Protection system prior to installation of the Floor Mount Base. Account for all factors that
may affect your saefty before, during, and after a fall. Consider all requirements, limitations, and specifications defined in
Section 2 and Table 1.
2.2
ANCHORAGE AND FASTENERS:
Concrete anchors and mounting hardware are not included. Mounting hardware must
meet the minimum requirements provided in Table 1.
2.3
INSTALLATION STEPS FOR 8530888:
1. Mark anchor holes to be drilled per Figure 2.1 layout.
•
The mounting surface must be flat and on a slope of no greater than plus or minus 1° (Figure 2.2).
•
Ensure the Base will be offset from any edge of the surface per the fastener manufacturer’s recommended
setback distance (B). Select fasteners appropriate for the material thickness (A) of the mounting surface.
•
Drill each hole according to the fastener manufacturer’s depth specifications.
2. Install the Floor Mount Base
•
Ensure the mounting surface is free of any debris before setting the Base in place.
•
Fasten the Base to the mounting structure per the fastener manufacturer’s installation instructions.
•
Ensure the base is within the plus or minus 1° from vertical (Figure 2.2).
3. Install the 3M Modular Jib System M200 onto the Base (Figure 3.1).
•
Install the 3M Modular Jib System M200 onto the Base.
•
Apply grease to grease fitting located on the Jib (Figure 3.2).
INSTALLATION STEPS FOR 8530889:
1. Mark sleeve location to be drilled per Figure 4.2 layout.
•
The mounting surface must be flat with a slope of no greater than plus or minus 1° (Figure 4.1).
•
Drill Ø6.56 in. (72 mm) hole to a depth of 22.75 in. (578 mm) into the existing concrete (Figure 4.1).
•
Remove debris from hole and inject epoxy (A) into hole per manufacturer instructions (Figure 4.3).
•
Drill the (4x) additional anchor hole if the mounting structure needs additional support based on loads specified
in Table 1.
•
Additional anchors can be used to secure the base to the mounting surface (Figure 4.2).
;
Ensure no epoxy enters the anchor opening during install.
•
Allow epoxy to cure before proceeding to next steps.
•
Fasten the Base to the existing concrete by tightening the concrete anchor bolts to the recommended
torque.
;
The Base can also be installed directly into fresh concrete, allowing the Base to be flush with the
mounting surface.
2. Install the 3M Modular Jib System M200 onto the Base.
•
Lower the Mounting Post until the Rotation Block (A) is resting in the Locking Slot (B) in the Base (Figure 5.1).
•
Install the 3M Modular Jib System M200 onto the Base (Figure 5.2).
•
Apply grease to grease fitting located on the Jib (Figure 5.3).
;
Insert the Base Cap into the Base when the Mast is not in the Base (Figure 5.4)
.
3.0 USE:
3.1
BEFORE EACH USE:
Verify that your work area and Fall Protection system meet all criteria defined in these instructions.
Verify that a formal Rescue Plan is in place. Inspect the system per the ‘User’ inspection points defined in the “Inspection
and Maintenance Log” (Table 2). If inspection reveals an unsafe or defection condition, or if there is any doubt about its
condition for safe use, remove the system from service immediately. Clearly tag the system “DO NOT USE.” See section 4 for
more information.
3.2
SAFE WORKING RADIUS:
The Safe Working Radius of the Jib Base does not extend beyond the length of the Jib Base
itself. See Figure 6 for reference. When using the M200 Jib System, the user should remain within the indicated Safe
Working Zone (A). Leaving the Safe Working Zone to an Outside Location (B) is dangerous and could result in serious
injury or death. When working on either side of the M200 Jib System, keep the anchor point as close overhead as
possible. If a rotation stop is in place on the jib mount, never work past that rotation stop. See the M200 Jib Boom user
instruction 5908372 for more information.
4.0 INSPECTION:
;
After equipment has been removed from service, it may not be returned to service until a Competent Person
confirmed in writing it is acceptable to do so.
4.1
INSPECTION FREQUENCY:
The Floor Mount Base shall be inspected by the User before each use, and additionally by
a Competent Person
1
other than the user at intervals of no longer than one year.
5
Inspection procedures are defined in
the “
Inspection and Maintenance Log
”. Results of each Competent Person inspection should be recorded on copies of the
“Inspection and Maintenance Log”.
