3.6 VoIP Function
SIP is a text-based protocol that is based on HTTP and MIME, which makes it suitable and
very flexible for integrated voice-data applications. SIP is designed for real-time transmission,
uses fewer resources and is considerably less complex than H.323. Its addressing scheme
uses URLs and is human readable. DV-302 support SIP protocol defined in RFC 3261.
3.7 TCP/UDP/IP Protocol Processing Function
TCP/UDP/IP Protocol Processing Function processes various Protocols like TCP complying
with RFC793, UDP with RFC768 and IP Protocol with RFC791.
3.8 Ethernet Control Function
Ethernet Control Function is used to process MAC, Ethernet protocol or IEEE 802.3 Protocol
and perform ARP for TCP/IP communications with CSMA/CD data network.
3.9 FAX Relay Function
The DV-302 FAX Relay function enables you to place and receive fax calls over a VoIP
network in addition to voice calls.
3.10 STUN Function
STUN is an abbreviated word of Simple Traversal of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) through
Network Address Translators (NATs). It is a lightweight protocol that allows applications to
discover the presence and types of NATs and firewalls between them and the public Internet. It
also provides the ability for applications to determine the public Internet Protocol (IP)
addresses allocated to them by the NAT. It is defined in RFC 3489.
The DV-302 enables an enhanced mechanism to overcome NAT/FW network configuration.
By default, this feature is enabled so the
customer doesn‟t need to set other NAT transparent
features like STUN for VOIP calls.
3.11 Telnet Remote Control Function
Telnet Remote Control Function is used for an operator to access the equipment using the
RFC 854 Telnet Protocol in a remote system for operation and management. The operator
may see and maintain the system via access through a Telnet from a remote location.
