QK-2000 Throttle Grip
Service Bulletin — #985-009
July, 1999
The right grip, on the steering handle, serves also as the throttle for the QK-2000,
allowing the speed of the machine to be controlled during
manual
operation. The
throttle has no function while the machine is in the
remote
mode.
The throttle grip controls the speed of the machine by providing a variable voltage to the
Curtis motor control box fed through the Junction box at CN-4 connector. (See Service
Bulletin 985-002). The three wires to the throttle grip have the following function.
Black
= ground
Blue
= 5 volts
Brown = 0- 5 volts (depending on throttle position).
The throttle grip fits over the handle bar. The bar should be wiped clean before
inserting a replacement throttle grip. The wire cable from the throttle grip is fed through
the small hole on the control panel box and the grip is butted up against this box and the
two clamping screws are tightened. After installing a throttle grip, turn it to the full on
position, several times, to assure it is not sticking.
Inside the box are three wires which match the colors of the throttle grip. Attach each of
these wires as shown in the attached drawing.
To test a throttle grip when it is not connected to the machine, in its "off" position, use
an ohmmeter between the wires as shown below:
Brown to Black 0 ohms to 5,000 ohms
Brown to Blue 5,000 ohms to 0 ohms
Blue to Black
5,000 ohms
By twisting the throttle grip, when disconnected from the machine, the following change
in resistance will be noted:
Blue to black will remain at 5,000 ohms
Brown to black will go from zero ohms to about 5,000 ohms
Blue to brown will go from 5,000 ohms to zero ohms
