Care and Maintenance
CLEANING THE
EVAPORATING TRAY
Since dust accumulated on the evaporating tray will decrease the evapora-
tion efficiency, periodically remove the tray to clean it. The evaporating tray
is attached to the back of the refrigerator. To remove it, pull it away from
the unit. After cleaning, make sure to put the tray securely back in place,
otherwise defrosted water may spill or the evaporation process may be
hindered.
UNIT IS HOT
With the freezer-refrigerator in operation, it is possible that the cabinet will
feel warm at the front edges. This does not indicate trouble. It is attributa-
ble to the hot gas line design. This prevents moisture from accumulating
and has nothing to do with the storage temperature inside.
For short vacation periods, leave the control knob at the usual setting.
During longer absences (3 weeks or more);
a)
remove all food.
b)
disconnect from electrical outlet.
c)
leave the door open to avoid possible formation of condensation,
mold, or odors.
Most power failures are corrected within an hour or two, and will not affect
your refrigerator temperatures. However, you should minimize the number
times you open the door while the power is off. During power failures of
longer duration, take steps to protect your food, for example, by placing dry
ice on top of packages.
Remove, or securely fasten down, all loose items inside the refrigerator. To
avoid damaging the leveling legs, turn them all the way into the base.
