(a) Turn ignition to the ON position and push the

OFF button to stop the ATC system airflow. This
will make it easier to observe paper in the next
step.

(b) Place a small piece of tissue paper in front of

the sensor opening. If the tissue sticks to the open-
ing, the In-Car sensor is aspirating properly.
(2) Check if the electrical connection and connector

are good per 1993 LH Body Diagnostic Manual.

(3) Check presence and condition of two foam seals

that are absolutely necessary for proper sensor opera-
tion.

(a) Seal on the inside surface of the trim bezel

directly behind the nameplate.

(b) Seal (strip) located directly to the right of the

right center duct opening.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

(1) Remove right side instrument panel trim end

cap (Fig. 9).

(2) Remove right trim bezel from instrument panel

(Fig. 10). It is held in place by friction and a screw.

(3) Remove sensor retaining screws.
(4) Pull out sensor from instrument panel and dis-

connect wiring.

To install, reverse removal procedure.

BLOWER POWER MODULE

The blower motor power module is only used in

vehicles equipped with Automatic Temperature Con-
trol (ATC). It is located on the lower right side of the
heater housing.

The power module receives pulse width modulated

signals from the Body Control Module. The power
module varies voltage to the blower motor for differ-
ent blower speeds based on the ATC software. There
are 14 speeds and a blower off signal.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

(1) Remove lower right under panel access cover

silencer duct.

(2) Disconnect wiring connector on blower motor

module.

(3) Remove blower motor module retaining screws.
(4) Pull blower motor module out of heater housing

(Fig. 11).

To install, reverse removal procedure.

BLOWER RESISTOR

Vehicles with heater only or manual air condition-

ing (Non-ATC) systems will have a blower motor re-
sistor. The resistor is located on the lower right side
of the heater housing.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

(1) Remove lower right underpanel silencer/duct.
(2) Disconnect wiring connectors on blower motor

resistor.

(3) Remove blower motor resistor retaining screws.
(4) Pull blower motor resistor out of heater housing

(Fig. 12).

To install, reverse removal procedure.
