SPARK PLUG
Starting failure and misfiring are ollen caused by a fouled spark plug. Clean
the spark plug and check that the plug gap is in the corree! range. For a
replacement plug, use the corree! type specified by your supplier.
IMPORTANT
Note that using any spark plug other than those designated may resull in the
engine failing to operate properly or in the engine becoming overhealed and
damaged.
To inslall lhe spark plug, first lurn lhe plug until it is finger light, then lighlen il
a quarler turn more wilh a socket wrench.
TIGHTENING TORQUE: 9·8 -11 ·8 N.m.
(1 - 1.2 kg.m.)
MUFFLER
WARNING
Inspect periodically, the muffler for loose fasteners, any damage or
corrosion. If any sign of exhaust leakage is found, stop using the machi-
ne and have it repaired immediately.
Note that failing to do so may reault in the engine catching on tire.
INTAKE AIR COOLINQ VENT
WARNING
Never touch the cylinder, muffler, or apark plugs with your bare hand11
immediately after stopping the engine. The engine can become very hot
when in operation, and doing 110 could result in 11evere burns.
When checking the machina to make aura that it is okay befare using it,
check the ares around the muffier and remove any wood chips or leavee
which have attached themseives to the bruahcutter. Failing to do so
could cause the muffler to become overheated and that in turn could
cause the engine to catch on fire. Alway11 make sure that the muffler is
clean and free of wood chips, leaves, and other waste befare u11e. Check
the lntake alr coollng vent and the ares around the cylinder cooling fina
after every 25 hours of use for blockage, and remove any waste which
has attached itself to the bruahcutter. Note that lt Is necessary to
remove the engine cover In order to be able to vlew the upper part of the
cyllnder.
IMPORTANT
lf waste gets stuck and causes blockage around the intake air cooling ven!
or between !he cylinder fins, it may cause !he engine to overheat, and that in
turn may cause mechanical failure on the par! of the brushcutter.
