Parameters 

<ipif_name 12>

 The name of the IP interface for which DVMRP 

is to be configured. 

all

 Specifies that DVMRP is to be configured for all IP 

interfaces on the switch. 

metric <value 1-31>

 

−

 Allows the assignment of a DVMRP route 

cost to the above IP interface. A DVMRP route cost is a relative 
number that represents the real cost of using this route in the 
construction of a multicast delivery tree.  It is similar to, but not 
defined as, the hop count in RIP. The default is 1. 

probe <second 1-65535>

 

−

 DVMRP defined an extension to 

IGMP that allows routers to query other routers to determine if a 
DVMRP neighbor is present on a given subnetwork or not. This 
is referred to as a 

‘

probe

’

. This entry will set an intermittent probe 

(in seconds) on the device that will transmit dvmrp messages, 
depending on the time specified. This probe is also used to 

“

keep alive

”

 the connection between DVMRP enabled devices. 

The default value is 10 seconds. 

neighbor_timeout <second 1-65535>

 

−

 The time period for which 

DVMRP will hold Neighbor Router reports before issuing poison 
route messages. The default value is 35 seconds. 

state [enable | disable] 

−

 Allows DVMRP to be enabled or 

disabled. 

Restrictions 

Only administrator-level users can issue this command.
