Additional Safety Considerations
Protecting Non-target Tissues
Electrical Hazard
WARNING
Skin-to-skin contact (e.g., between the arms and body of the
patient) should be avoided to prevent the possibility of accidental
burns. The placement of dry gauze in probable skin-to-skin contact
sites is recommended.
WARNING
The cables to the surgical electrodes should be positioned in such a
way that contact with the patient or other leads is avoided.
WARNING
Do not wrap accessory cables or return electrode cables around
metal objects. This may induce currents that could lead to shocks,
fires, or injury to the patient or operating personnel.
WARNING
For procedures where the RF current could flow through parts of the
body having a relatively small cross-sectional area, the use of
bipolar techniques may be desirable to avoid unwanted tissue
damage.
CAUTION
During use of the system, the patient should not come into direct
contact with grounded metal objects, such as a surgical table frame,
the instrument table, etc. The use of antistatic sheeting is
recommended.
CAUTION
When the system and physiological monitoring equipment are used
simultaneously on the patient, any monitoring electrodes should be
placed as far as possible from the treatment site. The use of needle
monitoring electrodes is not recommended.
WARNING
High voltages are present inside the system. Do not remove the
exterior housing.
WARNING
Only an authorized Cutera Service Representative should perform
service on any Cutera console or handpiece.
