From the operator’s
perspective, however,
braking begins at the
point on the curve
corresponding to the
vehicle’s speed when
braking is initiated, and
then follows the curve
toward “Brake Start.” The
braking force is typically
set to
decrease
as the
vehicle slows down.
M1/M2/REV BRAKE MAP
The
brake map
parameter defines the shape of the brake map curve. The value
set for this parameter is a percentage of the regen current between the
BRAKE MIN
and
BRAKE MAX
values, at the point that is halfway between the
BRAKE END
and
BRAKE START
speeds (the “Brake Map Midpoint”), as shown in Figure 8.
The
BRAKE MAP
curve is the max allowed regen current, and the shaded
gray area below it is the operating range.
With the
BRAKE MAP
set at 50%, the motor’s regen current limit decreases
linearly with decreasing speed (from
BRAKE END
to
BRAKE START
), providing a
consistent rate of softening in braking power. Decreasing the
BRAKE MAP
setting
reduces the regen current attainable at medium speeds. Because the regen cur-
rent limit is reduced as the speed is reduced, the motor will brake more gently
as the vehicle approaches a stop.
