7. Mega-Midget Racer Installation in the Amiga A2000 Series
WARNING: TURN OFF THE AC POWER SWITCH AND DISCONNECT THE
POWER CORD FROM WALL SOCKET BEFORE PROCEEDING:

INFORMATION ABOUT THE A2000, SEE THE AMIGA A2000 USER’S
MANUAL.
a. Disconnect the keyboard and mouse from the front of the computer and disconnect any
peripherals attached to the rear connectors such as external disk drives, printers,
etc.
b. Remove the A2000 cover by removing two screws on the lower right side, two
screws on the lower left side, and a center screw from the rear of the Amiga. Set
these screws aside for later use. Refer to CSA drawing 01244 showing the location of
Group A screws.
c. Turn the computer so that the front is facing you. Grasp the cover on the sides,
carefully sliding it toward you, and lift up on the front as you pull.
WARNING If
the cover gets caught, DO NOT FORCE IT.
Check under the cover to see if any
internal cables are holding it. If so, correct the problem before continuing with the
cover removal.
NOTE:
If your Amiga contains another device in the 86-pin co-processor
socket, that device will take precedence over the CSA
Mega-Midget Racer
unless it is removed or deactivated through software.
d. With the front of the computer facing you locate and remove three group C screws
(see CSA drawing # 01242).
e. Rotate the computer until you are facing the rear of the unit. Refer to CSA drawing
#01242 to locate and remove four (4) Group B screws.
f. Refer to CSA drawing #01242 to locate IDC connector CN 303 (34 pin ribbon) and
unplug from the mother board. NOTE: THE RED STRIP FACES THE REAR OF THE UNIT.
h. Refer to CSA drawing #01242 to locate and unplug the power supply connector CN
400. NOTE: CHECK TO SEE IF THE YELLOW WIRE IN THE POWER SUPPLY CONNECTOR
IS TOWARD THE REAR OF THE COMPUTER CHASSIS. IF NOT, BE SURE TO MAKE A NOTE
OF WHICH WIRE IS IN THIS POSITION.

Lift up on the front edge of the disk drive mounting plate and carefully remove the
power supply / disk drive mounting frame. Place the frame assembly a side, until its
needed for reassemble.
