ACCELERATION
DO NOT accelerate to full throttle until after the proper “engine
break-in period.” Read the engine owner’s manual and follow the
correct engine break-in period. The engine break-in period
coincides with the engine checkup and FULL throttle acceleration
should not take place until after this checkup.
The craft angle of trim increases and the bow rides high when you throttle UP and
accelerate. Continued acceleration will reduce the trim. The maximum trim angle is
commonly known as the hump. Accelerate through the hump as quickly as possible
to reduce the limitation of visibility, handling and performance. This should only take a
few seconds. Then throttle DOWN to cruising speed for better fuel efficiency.
