GENERAL SYSTEM CLEAN OUT
As the system is operated, non-soluble residue will collect on the bottom of all the sumps.
Occasionally the sumps will need to be cleaned to remove these contaminants from the
system. Forward Technology recommends that this be done annually, but if excessive
amounts of build up are noticed, more frequent cleaning may be required.
•
Pump all solvent to a solvent transfer cart or other suitable container that can be sealed.
•
Turn off all power to the system and lock out power.
•
Loosen the bolts on the boil sump clean out door and allow any excess chemical to drain.
Use a pan to collect the runoff.
•
Remove the clean out door from the boil sump.
•
Remove the heating rods from the boil sumps & clean the exterior surface, inspect for any
hot spots or signs of damage.
•
Evacuate the system before entering for clean up or maintenance. This is achieved by
removing the clean-out door on the boil sump and blowing fresh air into the system for 3-4
hours. Or pull an exhaust in the tank for 24 hours.
•
Maintenance personnel entering an evacuated degreaser must be provided with safety
equipment such as gas-tight goggles and airline mask with proper regulators and filters or
self-sustained breathing equipment.
•
Remove all dirt, sludge and metal chips from the bottom of each tank (without entering the
system).
•
Clean all of the heating rods. Remove any film.
•
Reassemble all components and replace the clean-out ports. Clean all sealing surfaces
and replace the gaskets if they're damaged or show signs of wear.
•
Refill the system with solvent and check for leaks at the clean out ports.
