OPERATION
5.4 PITCH GRADING WITH A LASER
1. After you have set your laser to grade and are prepared
to lay pipe, lower the plow into trench or starter hole to
your determined depth.
2. Adjust the plow to a leveled position to begin your
hookup to the outlet. With your lift cylinders in a locked
position adjust the draft angle to slightly raised position.
The tip of your plow should stay slightly higher than
what is parallel to the ground. When working on level
ground the water line on your water level should read
approximately 1” below the level indicator.
3. Insert your tile down into the boot and pull through at
the bottom and complete your hookup to outlet.
4. While holding tile in place, pull the plow forward about
10’ to 15’ until plow is in solid ground and all you can see
is the tail of the boot. A good reference point is when
the “step” on the boot goes past the bank of the trench.
5. After seating the boot into the bank you must place
the lower cylinders on your #3 port in the float position.
6. Adjust the receiver up or down on the mast until the
green control box light comes on.
7. Be sure you have your grade programmed into the
transmitter and pointed in the upward grade direction.
Switch from manual to automatic on the laser control
box and start forward as slow as possible so the laser
can make grade changes. Tile at .8 to 1.2 MPH. Re-
member the slower the better.
8. At the end of the tiling run turn the switch from auto to
manual and lift plow slowly out of the ground while still
moving forward. Pull the top cylinder in completely after
the tile plow clears the ground.
5.5 PITCH GRADING WITH GPS
1. After you have done your survey run and are prepared
to lay pipe, lower the plow into trench or starter hole to
your determined depth.
2. Adjust the plow to a leveled position to begin your
hookup to the outlet. With your elevation cylinders in a
locked position adjust the draft angle to slightly raised
position. The tip of your plow should stay slightly higher
than what is parallel to the ground. When working on
level ground the water line on your water level should
read approximately 1” below the level indicator.
3. If you are uncertain about this pass use your computer
to check it at this time. If and when you are certain
the pass will work move on to the next step. Before
moving on make sure any automatic hydraulic control
is turned off.
4. Insert your tile down into the boot and pull through at
the bottom and complete your hookup to outlet.
5. While holding tile in place, pull the plow forward about
10’ to 15’ until plow is in solid ground and all you can see
is the tail of the boot. A good reference point is when
the “step” on the boot goes past the bank of the trench.
6. After seating the boot into the bank you must place the
elevation cylinders on your #3 port in the float position.
7. After the plow is in the solid ground and the elevation
cylinders are floated use your grade control software to
build a pipe profile. If you checked your profile at step
3 you will need to reload the pass now. If you did not
check your pass in step 3 you will have the software
design it at this time.
8.
Engage your automatic controls for your #1 SCV. You
will see the letters “AC” in your hydraulic status window.
Start moving forward as slow as possible so your con-
troller can make grade changes. Tile at .8 to 1.5 MPH.
Remember the slower the better.
9. At the end of the tiling run turn the switch from auto to
manual and lift plow slowly out of the ground while still
moving forward. Pull the top cylinder in completely and
return the plow to the survey position after the tile plow
clears the ground.
NOTE
To begin operation be sure to consult the AGPS or Trimble
control system user guide.
