TO STOP ENGINE
TO START ENGINE
1. Check the oil level. See the Engine Manual
How
to Check/Add Oil
section
2. Make sure equipment drive controls are
disengaged.
3. Move the throttle lever (A, Figure
14
) to the fast
position. Always operate the engine with the throttle
control lever in the fast position.
4. Push in the safety key (
B
, Figure
14
).
5. Turn the choke control knob (
C
) to the choke position.

Note: Do not use the choke to start a warm engine.

) two times.

A. Starter Cord Handle
WARNING
Rapid retraction of the starter cord (kickback)
will pull your hand and arm toward the engine
faster than you can let go. Broken bones,
fractures, bruises or sprains could result.
When starting engine, pull the starter cord
slowly until resistance is felt and then pull
rapidly to avoid kickback.

Rewind Start:
Firmly hold the starter cord handle
(A, Figure
15
). Pull the starter cord handle slowly
until resistance is felt, then pull rapidly.
WARNING
Gasoline and its vapors are extremely
flammable and explosive.
Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or
death.
DO NOT choke the carborator to stop the
engine.
1. Move the throttle control lever (A, Figure
13
) to the
slow position, then to the stop position (B).
2. Remove the safety key (C). Keep the safety key
out of reach of children.
