Model 30 Pavement Router Manual

 Operating Instructions

Chapter 5

©2018 by Crafco, Inc. All Rights Reserved……………..…………………..……………………..….Operating Instructions 5-4

5.3 Cold Weather Starting

Step

Action

Be sure to use the proper engine oil for the temperature expected. See Engine Operators

Manual for recommended SAE Viscosity Grades.

Set speed control at part throttle position.

A warm battery has much more starting capacity than a cold battery.

Use fresh winter grade fuel.

CAUTION

Winter grade gasoline has a higher volatility to improve starting.  Do not use gasoline
leftover from summer.

5.4 Battery

A 12 volt battery is used. If the battery charge is not sufficient to crank the engine, recharge the
battery. See Section

6.3.1

for battery charging instructions.

5.5 Stopping the Engine

Step

Action

Place the throttle control midway between the “slow” and “fast” positions.

Allow the engine to run a minimum of 15 seconds.

Stop the engine by turning off the key switch.

4

If not using the router for longer periods, turn off the fuel valve under the fuel tank

to avoid flooding the carburetor

 when not in use.

5.6 Operation Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to ensure proper operation of your CRAFCO Model 30 Pavement Router.

  Angle of Operation

5.6.1

The engine will operate continuously at angles up to 25 degrees. Check oil level to assure
crankcase oil level is at the “F” mark on the dipstick.  Do not operate the engine continuously at
angles exceeding 25 degrees in any direction.  Engine damage could result from insufficient
lubrication.
