Detector
This product cannot be adequately cleaned and/or sterilized by the
user in order to facilitate safe reuse, and is therefore intended for single
use. Attempts to clean or sterilize these devices may result in a bio-
incompatibility, infection or product failure risks to the patient.
WARNING:
The product packaging contains a desiccant pack. If the desiccant pack
becomes wet, its temperature may rise and cause harm to exposed skin.
Discard the desiccant pack immediately after opening packaging.
Directions for Use
Description
The EASYCAP II Adult Colorimetric CO
2
Detector, when connected between
an endotracheal tube and a breathing device, detects approximate ranges
of end-tidal CO
2
by color comparison in patients weighing more than 15 kg
(33 lb). The detector may be used during patient transport or in any location
where intubations are performed. It may be used for up to 2 hours.
Indications
Use to assist verification of tube placement during endotracheal or
nasotracheal intubation.
Use on intubated patients to detect approximate ranges of end-tidal CO
2
when clinically significant.
Contraindications
• Do not use to detect hypercarbia.
• Do not use to detect main stem bronchial intubation.
• Do not use during mouth-to-tube ventilation.
• Do not use to detect oropharyngeal tube placement. Standard
clinical assessment must be used.
WARNINGS:
1. Before using the EASYCAP II detector, read complete Directions for
Use.
2. The EASYCAP II detector is not suitable for interpretation by
individuals with blue-yellow color blindness.
3. Do not use this device on patients with body weight less than 15
kg (33 lb) due to the potential for rebreathing exhaled CO
2
.
