9. Using the machine
Consider!
• Keep a firm hold on the trimmer with both hands.
• Push the gas control and let the engine warm up.
• Keep the trimmer head parallel to the ground and move the trimmer back and forth,
then take one step forward and move it again, etc. Do not hold the trimmer too far
ahead if it feels heavy.
• Do not approach the trimmer head to your body. Always operate the trimmer away
from your body.
• Warning! Remove all objects like cans, bottles, stones, etc from the ground before
you begin to operate the grass trimmer. Failure to do so may lead to the throwing of
objects by the trimmer wire and injury or damage to the trimmer.
• If you notice an object being thrown or if the grass trimmer begins to vibrate, turn
it off immediately and check to see if it has been damaged. Do not operate the
trimmer if you notice any damage.
• Please note! Let the engine develop full speed before you begin to trim the grass.
Never attempt to trim grass/ brushwood on low speed.
• Warning! Never lift the trimmer above knee-length when it is being operated.
• Warning! Never use a metallic or plastic-coated trimmer wire. It may lead to severe
injuries.
9.1 Trimming around trees and bushes
Tilt the trimmer head forward and begin trimming from left to right while slowly and
carefully moving around the tree.
Be careful to not damage the bark of the tree or the plants surrounding it with the cut-
ting wire! If you trim grass near a fence, house foundations, stones, etc, the wire will be
worn out faster.
9. Ground preparation (removal of all vegetation)
• Tilt the trimmer head forward about 30 degrees to the left (it is easier if you loosen
the handgrip and twist it).
• Do not attempt this if there is the slightest risk of an object getting thrown or of
causing injury to people or animals standing closer than 30 metres.
9. Releasing the trimmer line
How to release the thread:
1. Let the engine run on the highest speed according to sections 2-4.
2. Tap the trimmer head on the ground and retract it again.
3. The trimmer line will be released automatically.
4. The trimmer line will be cut to the appropriate length by the blade under the
trimmer protection.
5. Turn off the engine and use a screwdriver or similar to remove any grass or other
object caught between the protective cover and the trimmer head. Failure to do so
can have negative effect on the cooling of the drive shaft.
