8. Starting the engine
Please note!
Pull the starting handle straight out. If you pull sideways, the friction
against the edge of the sleeve will wear out the string prematurely. Hold on to the
string after starting the engine and let it pull back slowly. Never let the starting handle
snap back on its own, as it can become entangled or break something on the trimmer.
Warning!
Only start the engine in well-ventilated environments, preferably outdoors.
The emissions are dangerous if inhaled.

See section “Troubleshooting” if the trimmer does not start after repeated
attempts.
Breaking in the engine
During the first few hours of operation, do not let the trimmer operate on full speed,
so that the engine parts can be broken in and the engine can manage operating at full
speed. Check after the breaking in period that all the screws and nuts are tight.
