6 . Opening the Cabinet
Step 1:
If the cabinet door is closed, use a 26B tool
or a 7/16-inch nut driver on the latch to open
it as shown by the inset in Figure 7. If desired
to ease work operations, follow the remaining
steps in this section to remove the exterior
door.
Step 2:
Remove nuts holding ground strap; then
remove strap. Replace nuts on studs to
prevent losing them.
Step 3:
Lift door off the hinges and set aside.
Step 4:
Reverse these steps to reinstall door after
work operations inside the cabinet are
complete.

7 . Grounding the Cabinet
Step 1:
Unlock panel and swing it
open.
Step 2:
Open the splice chamber
door and pedestal skirt, if
equipped with these items.
Slide splice trays out.
Step 3:
Bring ground cable up
through the grommet in the
base of the splice housing
and/ or through the grommet
in the base of the cabinet
(Figure 8).
Step 4:
Attach the ground wire to the
ground bar on the wall of the
cabinet.
Step 5:
Close the splice chamber
door and/or pedestal skirt
door, if opened previously.
Step 6:
Close the panel and secure
the latch as shown in the
inset in Figure 8.

Step 7:
Attach ground wire to building ground per standard codes and local practices.
