Notes on batteries/rechargeable batteries

• Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries away from children.

• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus

and minus!).

• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If

swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.

• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries can, when in contact with the skin, cause acid burns,

therefore, use suitable protective gloves.

• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There is a risk of

explosion!

• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Danger of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries that

are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.

• Never mix batteries and rechargeable batteries; do not mix batteries or rechargeable batteries with different

charges (e.g. full and half-full batteries). Always use four (rechargeable) batteries of the same
type/manufacturer to power the bird watching camera.

• For the safe and lasting use of the product, we recommend that only high-quality alkaline batteries be used.

When using rechargeable batteries, expect a shorter running time due to the lower operating
voltage (Battery = 1.5 V/cell, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V/cell).

Rechargeable batteries are more temperature sensitive than normal batteries. At low tem-
peratures, rechargeable batteries have a very short operating time.

Inserting/replacing the batteries

Open the battery compartment by pressing together the locking clip at the bottom of the battery compartment
and removing the battery compartment lid.

Insert four batteries of type AA (mignon) with the correct polarity. You will find an appropriate diagram in the
battery compartment.

Following that, insert the USB stick in the corresponding plug-in place (8) inside the battery compartment.

Close the battery compartment.

A battery replacement is required if the LED “batt. low” lights up or the camera cannot be turned on.

Inserting/removing the USB stick; reading data out on the PC

The camera must be turned off to insert or remove the USB stick. To do this, press the on/off button (2) until
the camera emits 3 beeps and the “power” LED goes out.

Open the battery compartment, remove the battery compartment lid (6).

Afterwards the USB stick can be inserted into the port (8); or removed from the port.

To read out the data on the USB stick connect it to your computer, plug it in a free USB port. The USB stick
e.g. is recognised from Windows as removable media drive.

Assembling the camera

At the bottom of the camera you will find a tripod socket. Here you can
attach the mounting foot. Alternatively, you can use it to mount the
camera on a stand.

Following that, attach the fold-away base.

The illustration on the right shows the camera with
mounting foot and fold-away base.

Depending on where you want to install the
camera, you can insert the corresponding amount
of the extension pipes included in the delivery and
at last, attach the ground stake; see illustration on
the left.

By means of the fold-away base the camera can
be pointed from above at the plant to be observed
in order to get a better overview.
