Getting Started and Operation
At the first startup or if the device has been transported more than 500 km while
switched off, the it should be positioned under the open sky for 15-20 minutes. Doing
so enables a correct position determination.
• Press the On/Off key (1) for about three seconds to switch the product on or off.
• The GPS status LED (3) shows the reception status of the GPS receiver:
LED is blue

Device is switched on / GPS data not yet received
LED flashes 1 s on / 2 s off >
Device is switched on / GPS reception ok
LED flashes fast

Waypoint is saved
• As soon as the device has received the GPS data, the GPS status LED (3) flashes in a
rhythm of one second on and then two seconds off.
• As long as the device is moving, the GPS data are regularly recorded together with time and
speed.
If no movement is detected for five minutes, the device goes into sleep mode to
save energy. You notice this when the GPS status LED (3) does no longer flash.
Moving again will reactivate the GPS data recording automatically. The GPS status LED (3)
then flashes again in the rhythm one second on and two seconds off.
• To save waypoints automatically (e.g. to label the position data of a photograph), press the
GPS key (4) for one to two seconds.
The GPS status LED (3) flashes fast during the saving process.
• To switch the device off, press the On/Off (1) for about three seconds. The red and blue LEDs
blink alternately and then switch off.
Installation of the software and the USB driver
• Place the software CD in the CD drive of your computer.
• Run the file named “CanWay Installer.exe” and follow the instructions on the screen.
• After installation, connect the device to a free USB interface of your computer.
• Switch the device on. The device is recognized.
• Now start the software application.
After a successful installation, an extensive description of how to use the software
can be found in the installation directory.
Problem during GPS reception
The environmental conditions listed below can lead to a poor GPS reception and thus to incor-
rect position determinations. Try to avoid such conditions during operation.
• Operation inside tunnels or buildings (especially in reinforced concrete structures or with
windows with metallised insulation coating.
• Operation in vehicles behind sun visor strips or window heaters.
• Operation near electronic devices (especially in the case of devices with radio transmitters).
• Operation near strong electric motors or transformers.
• Operation near tall buildings.
• Operation in thick forests.
Maintenance and care
• You do not need to service the product, apart from an occasional cleaning.
• Use only a clean, dry cloth for cleaning.
• Never use abrasive or chemical cleansers that can damage the housing.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the
household waste!
Dispose of an unserviceable product and the end of its life in accordance with the
relevant statutory regulations.
