Problem during GPS reception

The environmental conditions listed below can lead to a poor GPS reception and thus to incor-
rect position determinations. Try to avoid such conditions during operation.
•  Operation inside tunnels or buildings (especially in reinforced concrete structures or with

windows with metallised insulation coating.

•  Operation in vehicles behind sun visor strips or window heaters.
•  Operation near electronic devices (especially in the case of devices with radio transmitters).
•  Operation near strong electric motors or transformers.
•  Operation near tall buildings.
•  Operation in thick forests.

Maintenance and care

•  You do not need to service the product, apart from an occasional cleaning.
•  Use only a clean, dry cloth for cleaning.
•   Never use abrasive or chemical cleansers that can damage the housing.

Disposal

a) Product

Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the

household waste!

Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
lations.

Remove any inserted battery and dispose of it separately from the product.

b) Normal and Rechargeable Batteries

As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and
rechargeable batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in the household waste!

Batteries/rechargeable batteries contain harmful materials and are labelled with

the symbol shown to indicate that disposal in the household waste is forbidden.
The symbols of the relevant heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead
(marking can be seen on the battery/rechargeable battery, e.g. underneath the
refuse bin symbol shown on the left).

You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the of

fi

 cial  col-

lection points of your community, in our stores, or at places where batteries or rechargeable
batteries are sold!
You thereby ful

fi

l your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.

Operation in compass mode

•  After switching the device on for the

fi

rst time, the device is in compass-mode  .

•  In this operation mode, the arrow of the direction indicator (a) points north.

Operation in waypoint mode

•   Press the PAGE key (1), in order to select the desired waypoint mode

.

•   The waypoints can be stored in each of these modes. This feature is the same in all modes.

The symbols help differentiating between the different waypoints.

•   Setting the waypoints can be done by saving the current coordinates or by entering known

coordinates. (see below).

•   In case the required waypoints are saved, the arrow of the direction indicator (a) points in

direction of the stored waypoint (c).

•  The coordinate display (b) shows the coordinates of the saved waypoint.
•   The compass/distance indicator (d) shows the distance to the saved waypoint. The unit of

this indicator can be changed using the UNIT key (3).

By saving a waypoint, the previously stored data on this storage space is deleted.

Therefore, for saving waypoints, only use symbols that are not used yet or whose
data you don’t need any more.

Saving the current coordinates

•   Press the PAGE key (1), until the symbol for the desired waypoint is displayed on the display.
•   If you have reached the desired waypoint (e.g. the parking space of your vehicle that you

want to mark), press the MARK key (9), until the compass/distance indicator (d) shows „0“.
The waypoint has been saved.

•   The direction indicator (a) is blinking to show you that you have reached the saved waypoint.
•  In case you move away from the stored waypoint, the arrow of the direction indicator (a)

shows the direction and the compass/distance indicator (d) shows the distance to the stored
waypoint.

In order to save the current coordinates, a proper GPS reception will be required.

Entering known coordinates

•   Press the PAGE key (1), until the symbol for the desired waypoint is displayed on the display.
•   Press the UNIT key (3), until 000.000000 is shown on the coordinate display (b).
•  Use the Page key (1) and the UNIT key (3) in order to select the set place and enter the

desired value using the MARK key (9).

•   After having entered all values, press the UNIT key (3) for three seconds in order to save the

waypoint.

No GPS reception is required in order to enter known coordinates.

Enter the coordinates in degrees/decimal minutes. In case the data you have are

presented in any other format, you will have to convert them before entering. You will

fi

nd several internet pages which will convert your data automatically.
