7. Notes on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
Operation of the outdoor sensor with rechargeable batteries is generally possible.
The lower voltage of rechargeable batteries (rechargeable battery = 1.2V, battery
= 1.5V) and the lower capacity, however, leads to a shorter operating duration and
may reduce the radio range.
The rechargeable batteries are more susceptible to temperature than batteries.
This leads to strong reduction of the operating duration at low outdoor tempera-
tures.
We therefore recommend preferably using high-quality alkaline batteries for the
outdoor sensor to enable long and secure operation.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries are not suitable for children.
• Observe correct polarity when inserting batteries/rechargeable batteries (plus/+ and
minus/-).
• Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around openly; there is a danger that they
are swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, see a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause caustic burns when
touching skin; therefore, use suitable protective gloves in this case.
• Ensure that the batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, disassembled or
thrown into fire. There is a danger of explosion!
• Traditional barriers must not be charged. There is a danger of explosion! Only charge
rechargeable batteries intended for this, use a suitable charger.
• Remove the inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries if not using the device for an extended
period (e.g. during storage). There is a danger of old batteries/rechargeable batteries
leaking, which causes damage to the product, loss of warranty/guarantee!
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries, use only batteries/
rechargeable batteries of the same type/manufacturer and the same charge state (do not full
batteries/rechargeable batteries with half-empty or empty ones).
• Never mix batteries and rechargeable batteries. Use either batteries and rechargeable
batteries.
• For environmentally compatible disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, read the
chapter on “Disposal”.
