Safety notices
WARNING
When testing, only touch the handles
and do not touch the test electrodes;
only test voltages using two poles.
CAUTION
• The voltage tester is designed for
use by specialist electricians in con
-
nection with safe working practices.
• Unauthorised persons must not use
the voltage tester and its additional
equipment.
• The voltage tester may only be used in the
given nominal voltage range and in low-volt
-
age facilities up to 690 V. The application re
-
quirements for voltage testers contained in DIN
VDE 0101 Part 100 and EN 50110-1 state that,
shortly before testing for the absence of volt
-
age, the voltage tester should be checked to
make sure it is functioning correctly. If the dis
-
play does not work correctly, the voltage tester
must not be used any more.
• If the display shows a figure of above the up
-
per limit for low voltages (ELV), this is only as
a warning for the user and not a measured val
-
ue.
• Due to its high input resistance, the display of
capacitive and inductive voltages can be per
-
formed. The voltage tester type 1166 has a
switchable load function to attenuate induced
voltages.
• The display of the LEDs happens at 80-85% of
the voltage step.
• A flawless display is only guaranteed at tem
-
peratures between -15 °C and +45 °C and at
relative humidities of < 95%.
• The voltage tester should be function checked
shortly before and after testing for absence
of voltage. If the display of one or more steps
does not happen, or no operational readiness
is displayed, the voltage tester may not be
used any more.
• The device should be stored in a dry and clean
environment.
• The voltage tester has protection degree IP65
and can therefore be used in damp conditions
(even outdoors).
• The device can, in line with its highest possi
-
ble duty cycle (DC), be used for up to 30 sec
-
onds at highest nominal voltage of the nominal
voltage range.
• The visibility of the display can be effected by
unfavourable lighting conditions, e.g. in sun
-
light.
