2.1 Intended use
The IR Transmitter/Receiver allows you to receive and transmit IR remote control signals which are
coded as per the common formats RC5 or REC80, thus enabling the interaction of a control com-
puter (preferably C-Control series components) with other devices, for example TV, video recorders,
IR dimmers. Any other use than the intended use is not permitted.
2.2 Safety instructions
Please read this section thoroughly! Non-compliance with these safety instructions could result in a
hazard causing personal injury or death due to severe shock, electrocution or electric fire!
1. The IR-CTRL can be connected with the control computer over the 5 ports. Inadvertently mixing up
the connections can result in a fire hazard due to short circuit and can severely damage the
module and connected devices!
2. The IR-CTRL may not be used in connection with devices, which are used directly or indirectly for
medical, health care or life support purposes or the operation of which could pose a hazard to
people, animals or tangible assets. Moreover it is not permitted to operate the IR-CTRL in areas
subject to explosive hazards or aggressive chemicals.
2.3 Performance characteristics
The IR-CTRL Transmitter/Receiver already comes complete with all the necessary components to
exchange measured values, operating conditions, etc. over great distances with the aid of a control
computer, preferably C-Control series components, with other similar computers or to receive/trans-
mit IR remote control signals for interacting with other components. This IR Transmitter/Receiver is
equipped with its own micro-controller, which assumes to a large extent the coding/ decoding of
transmitted/received IR remote control signals and thus relieves the load of the control computer.
