Cabling ATA Devices
The following steps detail the procedure for connecting cables from an
integrated ATA/100 controller to an internal ATA hard drive or other device:
1.
Install the device. Refer to “Installing a Hard Drive” or “Installing a
Device into a Removable Media Bay,” in Chapter 3, “Hardware Options
Installation,” for instructions.
2.
Make sure that the jumper on the drive is set to Cable Select (CS).
3.
Install the next available cable connector to the hard drive or ATA
device. Figure 4-9 and Table 4-4 show the cabling configuration when
four ATA hard drives are installed. If fewer than four drives are
installed, then follow these cabling steps accordingly.
