Installing a Processor
IMPORTANT:
Both processors must be the same speed.
1.
Verify that all critical data has been backed up.
2.
Ensure that your server has the most current ROM version. To update
your ROM, visit the Compaq website at
http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/
CAUTION:
Failure to flash your ROM before installing a new processor may
cause system failure.
3.
Follow the steps in “Removing the Access Panel” at the beginning of
this chapter.
4.
To gain access to the processor sockets, remove the internal fan baffle.
a.
If the fan baffle is secured to the server with a screw, then remove
the screw
. If not, continue to the next step.
b.
Unseat the baffle and slide it out and away from the chassis
.
