Connect to an Ethernet Network (Optional)
Connect one end of the 10/100/1000 RJ-45 Ethernet cable into one of the vision controller's LAN ports. Connect the
other end of the cable to an Ethernet network adapter or switch, as applicable.
Note
:
l
To avoid electromagnetic interference, the Ethernet cable must be shielded. Cognex strongly recommends
Cat 6 or Cat 7 Ethernet cables with S/STP shielding.
l
The LAN ports are dedicated to connecting to an Ethernet network and cannot be used to connect to
Cognex industrial devices or to communicate via industrial Ethernet communication protocols.
Connect to an Industrial Ethernet Device (Optional)
The vision controller can be connected to a network that is dedicated to industrial Ethernet devices (for example, PLCs or
robots) to communicate with the devices using supported industrial Ethernet protocols. Connect one end of a 10/100
RJ-45 Ethernet cable to the vision controller's I-ENET port and connect the other end of the cable to a network
switch/router.
Note
:
l
To avoid electromagnetic interference, the Ethernet cable must be shielded. Cognex strongly recommends
Cat 5e or Cat 6 Ethernet cables with S/STP shielding.
l
The I-ENET port is dedicated to industrial Ethernet communications and cannot be used to connect to
Cognex industrial devices or a Gigabit Ethernet network.
