WATERSPORTS SAFETY
When participating in water sports, be safe and courteous and follow these guidelines:
•
Be considerate to fishermen and others you share the water with.
•
Do not perform water sports in congested areas.
•
Stay away from navigation markers.
•
Stay away from other boats and water sports participants.
•
Return immediately to a fallen water sport participant.
•
Regularly inspect water sport equipment to ensure it is safe.
•
Do not use any fuel burning appliances with a transom exhaust port when
swimming from the stern swim platform.
It is unlawful to participate in water sports while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
•
WATER SPORT PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR A USCG APPROVED FLOTATION DEVICE. A TYPE III
WATER SKI VEST IS AN APPROVED AND PRACTICAL PFD.
•
KEEP AT LEAST 30 M (100 FT) AWAY FROM ALL OTHER OBJECTS.
•
WHEN WATER SPORTING, HAVE AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER AND AFT FACING OBSERVER IN
THE BOAT.
•
DO NOT WATER SPORT IN SHALLOW WATER OR AT NIGHT.
•
DO NOT JUMP FROM A MOVING BOAT.
•
KEEP A DOWNED WATER SPORTER IN SIGHT.
•
TURN THE ENGINES OFF BEFORE YOU GET CLOSE TO SOMEONE IN THE WATER.
