BRAKE PEDAL
The brake pedal is the large pedal on the left with the word
STOP
molded into it
(See Figure 15)
. To slow or
stop the vehicle, depress the brake pedal with your right foot
(See Figure 16)
.
• THE OPERATION OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DIFFERS FROM THAT OF AN AUTOMO-
BILE.
WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, AND THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN EITHER FORWARD OR
REVERSE, DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL AUTOMATICALLY RELEASE THE
PARK BRAKE AND START THE VEHICLE MOVING IN THE SELECTED DIRECTION (FORWARD
OR REVERSE). AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, SPEED WILL INCREASE
UNTIL FULL SPEED IS REACHED. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS RELEASED, IT WILL
RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION AND THE ENGINE WILL DROP BACK TO IDLE.
