6. Positioning/attaching the camera
• The camera can be attached to e.g. a tree using the strap. Secure the camera in
a stable position so that it will not move due to the wind or vibrations. Remember
to position the camera to give it the best possible protection from the elements.
A suitable distance to the subject is approximately 5 metres; secure the camera
approximately 1.5 to 2 metres above the ground.
• The camera can be attached to a camera tripod/bracket with a 1/4
″
tripod thread.
Note!
• The camera is affected by temperature. The capacity and range of the PIR
sensor is affected by the ambient temperature relative to the animal’s body heat.
The greater the difference, the easier it is for the camera to capture the target over
a longer distance.
• The camera produces colour images in daylight and black and white ones in darkness.
• Remember where the sun rises and sets, and position the camera with the sun
behind it. This will prevent direct light spoiling your photos.
• If possible, position the camera in a northerly direction to prevent direct light
spoiling your photos and false indications from the PIR sensor.
• Remove twigs in front of the camera; twigs with leaves on them can cause
false indications.
• Always take test photos to test the correct setting and positioning of the camera.
Note:
Remember to set the switch to the
ON
setting before closing the camera and
going home.
