9. Troubleshooting
9.1. I am having trouble connecting to the router
Possible causes:
• The router is not connected to the adaptor.
• No network connection is found.
• The computer you are using does not have a valid IP address.
• Check your firewall settings to see if they are blocking the connection.
• Check your wireless connections.
Possible solution:
• Check that the ”PWR” light is on, if not: Check that both the AC/DC adaptor
and the wall socket have voltage.
• Check that you have a physical or wireless connection between the PC and
the router; the ”LAN” light should be on. The LED on the network card will also
indicate if the connection is functioning.
• Make sure that you have the same settings both on the computer and router.
The settings can be used with the IPCONFIG tool which is entered at
the command prompt. Go to
Start – Run
and enter
cmd
to open
the command prompt.
• Type
ipconfig
and press [ENTER].
• The computer’s IP address and Net mask will then appear.
• The standard-gateway is also the router’s IP address.
N.B. The router can change IP address to 192.168.2.254 if it detects a conflict
with e.g. a modem which already shares the same 192.168.1.254
IP address.
