FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE THERE ANY LIMITS TO USING MY
TABLET?
If you’ve purchased the Claris Companion WiFi Tablet, then
no, there are no limits (although your WiFi provider may
impose some limits on data usage)
But if you purchased the Claris Companion 4G Cellular Tablet
then YES! We’re glad you asked. Now warning, this gets a
little complicated so you might want to skip this section and
come back to it later…
The 4G Cellular Tablet uses the Verizon cellular network to
communicate with the internet (also known as the world wide
web). Each time you use Websites, News, Resources, or do
Video Calling, your tablet communicates over the Verizon
network to send and receive this information (or ‘data’).
This is where things get mathematical, so bear with us. Your
tablet monthly service plan includes 1 Gigabyte (GB) or 1000
MegaBytes (MB) of data usage
per month
.
Under normal usage your tablet will use about 200 MB (of
your 1000 MB) per month to stay connected, send/receive
messages, photos, and even a few videos.
If you use the Websites, News, Resources and Video Calling
often then you can use up a lot more data. When you use more
than 75% of your monthly data limit, you will receive a
notification on your tablet.
To avoid going over your monthly data limit, you can reduce
usage of Websites, News, Resources (e.g. Facebook) and
Video Calling – especially websites that play videos.
Watching videos (other than those in your
[Videos]
or
[Exercises]
buttons) will use up about 5 MB per minute of your
total 1000 MB for the month.
