Organization
This guide is organized into these chapters:
Chapter 1, “Product Overview,”
is a physical and functional overview of the
Catalyst 3550 family of switches. It describes the switch ports, the standards they
support, and the switch LEDs.
Chapter 2, “Installing and Starting the Switch,”
contains the procedures for
installing the switch in a rack, on a wall, on a table, or shelf. It also describes
installing Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) modules, how to power the switch,
and how to make port connections.
describes how to identify and resolve some of the
problems that might arise when installing the switch.
Appendix A, “Technical Specifications,”
lists the physical and environmental
specifications for the switches and the regulatory agency approvals.
Appendix B, “Connector and Cable Specifications,”
describes the connectors,
cables, and adapters that can be used to connect to the switch.
Appendix C, “Translated Safety Warnings,”
contains translations in various
languages of the warnings in this guide.
