the UPS to notify us if it has a fault that may jeopardize your critical loads. Transmission of
UPS data to the Chloride Power Electronics Technical Service Center is by modem
(requires a dedicated analog phone line) and can be:
•
ROUTINE : typically once a week
•
EMERGENCY: when something goes wrong with the UPS or when parameters
are out of tolerance.
•
MANUAL: when requested by the Customer
•
BIDIRECTIONAL: when requested by the service center
During the calls, the Customer Service Center:
•
Identifies the connected UPS
•
Recognizes the kind of call
•
Requests any data stored in the UPS since the previous connection
•
May request information from the UPS on the line.
•
Dispatches a Field Service Engineer (if necessary).
The storage of the data and their subsequent analysis permit the service engineer to
compile a detailed report that will be forwarded to the Customer periodically with the aim
of informing her/him of the condition of the UPS and of preventing potentially critical
situations. Please note that LIFE2000 is not a power quality monitoring system, but a UPS
monitoring system. Chloride Power Electronics will not notify the customer in case of any
situations resulting from a utility power failure that fall into the normal scope of operation of
the UPS. LIFE2000 is intended to monitor the operating status of the UPS, not the utility.
