REGARDING REQUIREMENTS FOR COMBUSTION AND

This fireplace must be installed in accordance with these instructions. Read carefully ALL the instructions in
this manual first. Consult the building authority having jurisdiction to determine the need for a permit prior to
beginning the installation.
NOTE:
An improperly installed, adjusted or maintained appliance may void your fire insurance.
INSTALLATION DATA
Model SSI-22 Gas Insert comes assembled with glass front.
Remove all packaging materials around glass before op-
eration of appliance. Install logs and coals as shown on
page 9 before operation.
An optional heat circulating fan is factory installed on this
unit. The fan is thermostatically controlled to turn on and
off automatically for optimum performance. A three-wire
grounded extension cord with plug is included and should
be connected to a properly grounded receptical.
No electrical supply is required for the gas system
operation. The self generating pilot provides current for
the Burner On/Off Switch.
Do not wire to 110 volt AC
outlet!
SPECIAL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
-
Due to high temperatures, the appliance should be
located out of traffic and away from furniture and
draperies.
- Advise all adults and especially children to be alert to the
hazard of high surface temperatures and that they should
stay away to avoid burns or clothing ignition.
- Supervise young children when they are in the same room
as the appliance.
- Never place clothing or flammable material on or near the
appliance.
- It is important that the control compartments, burners and
circulating air passageways of the appliance be kept clean.
- Installation and repair should be done by a qualified
service person (licensed gas fitter). The appliance should
be inspected before use and at least annually by a qualified
service person. More frequent cleaning may be required
due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding material, etc.
- Do not use this appliance if any part has been under
water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to
inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control
system which as been under water.
NOTE:
This unit must be installed in accordance with the
latest edition of the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1
(USA) or CSA B-149 (Canada) and any local codes.
The appliance, when installed, must be electrically
grounded in accordance with local codes or, in the absence
of local codes, with the latest edition of the National Electri-
cal Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, or CSA-C22.2 (CANADA)
