4. Set your main speakers toward the side of your listening environment and at a height equal to what your ears
would be while sitting in your favorite chair. Tower speakers are specifically designed for this, or, if you have
the shorter type, consider a pair of speaker stands. Next, mount your rear surround speakers behind and high,
the bass speakers low and hidden, and your center channel as close to the video display as possible. This will
cause the sound from all the others to 'fit' into place.
5. Next, determine if your media is in a multi-channel format or in a standard two-channel stereo. If it is in a
standard stereo format, use SRS
TM
processing to expand into a broader sound stage. Adjust BASS, TREBLE,
and MIDRANGE to suit your desire, and then CENTER and SPACE to suite your particular situation.
(CENTER localizes the dialogue toward the center of your hearing while SPACE broadens the sound stage)
6. If you are in your main room with a full set of five or more speakers, use the Loop Through feature of the
A6600 to take full advantage of your equipment. Turning off TruSurround
TM
and SRS
TM
processing accom-
plishes this.
7. If the source is in a multi-channel format (Dolby Digital AC-3) and there are only two speakers available, do
not fret. Your ARIA A6600 is specifically designed for this situation! Activate TruSurround
TM
processing.
This will give you the full benefit of the multi-channel audio information but processed for two front-firing
speakers providing you with a realistic surround experience. Adjust CENTER to localize voice and dialogue,
SPACE to extend and wrap the sound field around you, and finally, BASS, TREBLE and MIDRANGE to suit
your preference.
8. Finally, the single most important element of great sounding audio is
your room
. There is a right place and a
wrong place for speaker placement; good and bad room treatments, and a room configuration that is optimal for
your individual situation. All of these dramatically affect the resolution, depth of bass, and quality of sound
reproduction. How you control these factors will greatly affect the amount of enjoyment you receive from your
