If the pressure is released quickly when autoclaving liquids, there is a possibility that the liquid will boil.
I this should be avoided we recommend cooling the autoclave to 70°C before opening the valve.
When running long time cycles danger of cooking dry and overheating. The autoclave could be
damaged. Check regularly water level.
Do not transport when filled. Do not open with force.
When not in use, always remove the water from the chamber (to avoid deposits and pitting!)
This autoclave must only be maintained by CertoClav or authorized retailers. Always use original spare
parts.
Autoclave – Safety devices
Secure Locking mechanism and steam release valve within the lid
Are providing safety against opening under pressure and will avoid a pressure build up, if the unit is not
closed the correct way. By turning the red knob to “open”, steam will be released. As long as the unit is
not securely locked, the steam release valve remains open and so prevents any build-up of pressure.
Pressure Control valve:
When pressure/temperature is exceeded by about 10% over the highest working pressure (2,7 bar),
steam is released through a safety mechanism. The temperature sinks.
Safety valve:
At 3,6 to 4 bar a safety valve opens in the event the pressure control valve fails. This safety valve closes
automatically after pressure dropped. In any case than the pressure control valve has to be changed, as it
is defect.
Overpressure safety recess
Should all safety devices blocked at an excess pressure at around 4,7 bar the lid gasket would be squeezed
through an overpressure safety recess at the rim of the chamber with a loud noise. If this occurs do not
operate the unit anymore and return it to the dealer or the manufacturer
If this occurs do not operate the unit anymore and return it to the dealer or the manufacturer for
examination and check. It is dangerous to work with such a unit.
