Bottom appearance panel removal
– use 7mm socket to remove (10) screws from bottom appearance panel. Use 10mm socket to remove (2) washer nuts from heat shield and appearance panel tab.
Remove the appearance panel. Keep all fasteners and appearance panel for reinstallation.
2.
Lowering exhaust
– use exhaust removal pliers to remove (2) exhaust hanger rods from rubber isolator each side. Use a support or strap to keep muffler from getting damaged.
3.
Heat shield trimming
– trim the area on the heat shield both sides as shown in
Figure 2
.
4.
Factory bumper bolts removal
– use 10mm socket to remove (2) inboard factory bolts from bumper beam each side, see
Figure 1
.
5.
Hitch installation
– feed the carriage bolt ① and spacer ② through frame rail slot using the pull wires ⑤. Leave pull wires attached. Raise the hitch and feed pull wire previously installed through hitch
bracket slot. Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washer ③ and hex nut ④ to the hitch . Reuse factory bumper bolts and loosely fasten them to the hitch, see
Figure 1
.
6.
Tighten all factory M8 fasteners with torque wrench to 27 Lb.-Ft. (37 N*M) and all 7/16’’ fasteners to 50 Lb.Ft. (68 N*M).
7.
Bottom appearance panel trimming
– locate the center of bottom fascia and trim the area as shown in
Figure 3
. Make additional trimming if needed.
8.
Reinstall the exhaust and bottom appearance panel removed in Step 1, 2.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been
damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and
requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
