 2. One-piece washable type filter in vent door fil-

ters outdoor air.

D. Anti-Theft Control Knobs:

Control knobs shall be captured by the front panel
to prevent theft.

E. Bi-Directional Discharge Grille:

Discharge grille shall be easily adjustable and bi-
directional. In one direction, the air will discharge
40 degrees from horizontal. In the other direction,
the air will discharge 80 degrees from horizontal.

F.

Fans and Motor:

 1. Evaporator (indoor) fan shall be a single-inlet

corrosion-resistant, reverse curve blower and
shall discharge air upwards. Fan shall be
dynamically balanced.

 2. Condenser (outdoor) fan shall be a propeller

type with corrosion-resistant, plastic finish,
discharging air out the rear of the unit. Shall be
dynamically balanced with an integrated
slinger ring.

 3. Motor shall be totally enclosed, permanently

lubricated, and multiple speed.

G. Condenser Coil Shroud:

The condenser coil shroud shall be two pieces,
secured by captured screws, to allow easy access to
service and maintain components in the condenser
section.

H. Snow Baffle:

The snow baffle shall be included to prevent snow
from melting on the fan motor and freezing on the
fan shaft.

I.

Compressor:
The compressor shall be fully hermetic with inter-
nal and external vibration isolation.

J.

Factory-Installed Electric Heater:
The factory-installed electric heater is standard in
heat/cool and heat pump units.

K. Coils:

The coils shall have aluminum plate fins mechani-
cally bonded to seamless copper tubes internally
enhanced (grooved) with all joints brazed.

L. Refrigerant Components:

All piping, compressor, and expansion devices shall
be included.

M. Controls and Safeties:

 1. All standard models shall be equipped with

electro-mechanical controls and no electronics
for serviceability.

 2. Controls shall consist of rotary selector switch

which provides OFF/FAN/HEAT/COOL oper-
ation, an adjustable thermostat with upper and
lower limits, VENT OPEN/CLOSE, and FAN
CYCLE switches. Additional controls for heat
pumps include outdoor coil defrost thermostat.

 3. Safeties shall consist of automatic reset over-

temperature and overcurrent protection for
compressor,  inherent, automatic reset over-
temperature protection for fan motor; two
overtemperature protectors for heater.

 4. Standard controls for unit operation shall be a

mechanical rotary type switch, easily accessi-
ble and covered by a hinged door.

 5. Wall thermostat units (RC and RP models)

shall come from the factory ready for wall
thermostat installation. No field-installed kits
shall be required, including a blank out plate
for the unit control knobs.

 6. A continuous/fan cycle selector switch shall

allow the choice of continuous fan operation
for maximum comfort or cycle operation (fan
only runs with cooling or heating operation)
for maximum energy savings.
