4 The Carqon Box
The Carqon box constitutes the main difference between a cargo bike and an ordinary bike. In order to
protect the children and luggage, Carqon recommends using a raintent, a rain cover and/or a box cover. If
you want to install additional accessories but lack the necessary knowledge and required tools, please
have your additional accessories installed by a Carqon dealer.
4.1 Transporting children in the box
Up to three children can be transported in the box. Two children can be seated on the bench and one
baby can be transported by using the Maxi-Cosi adapter.
●
Always use the safety belt to secure children in the box.
●
Ensure that children wear a suitable bike helmet when riding which corresponds to the country-
specific and regional regulations or which has been tested according to the standard DIN EN
1078 and which bears the CE test mark.
●
Ensure that children do not allow any body parts to protrude from the box.
●
Ensure that children remain strapped in during their journey in the box.
●
Ensure that the maximum permitted total weight (total weight permitted in the box is 75 kg/165
lb) is not exceeded (see section “Maximum permissible total weight” on page 12) and that the
