5.0 DISPLAY ALIGNMENT 

 

5.3  Display Alignment 

– Curve Alignment 

Additional consideration should be made for road curvature. If the display sign is displaying vehicle speed 
intermittently, the display sign may need to be turned slightly towards or away from the road to detect vehicles at 
the appropriate portion of the curve. 

The following diagram shows an example of two signs in poor locations relative to a curve. The radar beam is 
angled to the roadway, resulting in a short detection range. 

 

 

The next diagram shows the same curve configuration, but with display signs in proper locations.  The radar is 
mostly parallel to the roadway, with a good detection range.
